Hillsborough County Public Schools will hold graduations for the Class of 2020 virtually, following a sharp spike in COVID-19 cases in our community. Over the last few months, district administrators have worked tirelessly on an in-person graduation plan with increased sanitation measures, social distancing and required masks. However, with the current status of coronavirus cases in Hillsborough County, district leaders have made a decision that we believe is in the best interest of our graduates and their families.
Our district is contracting with an outside vendor to create virtual graduation videos that will be shared with our families. Each high school will also celebrate their graduates with drive-thru diploma ceremonies where seniors can don their cap and gown and take the traditional graduation photo with their principal, of course socially distanced.
We hope our entire community will celebrate our Seniors and wish them well as they embark on the next chapter in their lives. Please share your well wishes on social media platforms and include the hashtag #HCPSGrads2020
